Welcome to Nishikaze 2016!

Hello everyone!

It’s 180 days till Nishikaze so we’d like to announce the official launch of Nishikaze 2016!
Nishikaze will be held May 20 – 21, 2016 at the University of Lethbridge, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

Friday, May 20th will be the first ever Nishikaze Matsuri in the evening! We will be replicating the spirit of a Japanese street festival with stalls, food, and entertainment. More details to follow as they come available!

Saturday, May 21st is the main festival Nishikaze. We are expanding our venue by moving our Marketplace into the the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport & Wellness on the indoor track. CafĂ© Ayako will be moving into the Students’ Union ballroom. Programming will be centred on Markin Hall with our Main Stage in the Atrium once again.

Our Marketplace information is live, complete with a new online application form. We will still accept emailed and paper copies.

Our Panel, Volunteer, Auction Donation, and Cosplay Contest Applications are live as well.

Hope you’re all excited for Nishikaze 2016!!

Post-con updates

Hello friends!

Looking for photos? Head on over to our Facebook page and check out the pictures there!

If you were at our Closing Ceremonies, you would have heard that we’re changing dates to May Long (Victoria Day) Weekend. We have not determined if we will be multi-day but you can set your calendars to May 21, 2016 for sure!

And for those worried that we’ll be competing with Otafest, perhaps you should check out this video.

Nishikaze 2015 is over!

Hello friends!
Nishikaze 2015 has come and gone, and while we may all feel a little sad, I have some information for you!

Attendees: 405 (not including guests, volunteers, staff)
Charity: $1525
Food Items: 120 pieces including 19 boxes of KD =)

I must admit as I was boxing up the food items, I was happy to see a variety in the donations. Not only was there soup and Kraft Dinner, there was also 12 cans of meat/seafood, 2 jars of peanut butter, and a nice variety of canned vegetables.

I also apologize for this shaky picture of Sunday’s Lethbridge Herald. But look! We’re on the second page! And in colour!

And if you weren’t at our Closing Ceremonies, I’d like to inform you that Nishikaze will be returning to the University of Lethbridge on Victoria Day weekend (May Long Weekend)! Be sure to check back for updates!!
