LASARA was formed in 1998 to provide search and rescue services to southern Alberta. LASARA is a member of Search and Rescue Alberta. Members train year-round and in all weather to be able to respond to tasking agencies, usually the police, when assistance is required. We can manage searches for tasking agencies, and search for missing persons and evidence. Our members have many different qualifications, including Standard First Aid, SAR Basics, navigation and radio communications, and some of our members train further in such disciplines as Wilderness First Aid, search dog handling, and swift water rescue. In 2016 alone, our members gave over 5000 hours of their time to build and maintain the group, and to train for and respond to search call-outs.
